Kat Dennings's birth name was Katherine Victoria Litwack. She was born on June 13, 1986 at Bryn Mawr (Pennsylvania). Ellen Dennings, Kat's mom, is a writer and speech therapy. Her father Gerald is a college prof as well as a molecular biologist. Dennings is the youngest of five children and grew up in a family that was all Jewish. Dennings attended a school that was not traditional and she only briefly went to a homeschool. Because she began acting at an early age and was a natural homeschooler, it worked well for her. In the year 14 she graduated from the high school. When she was just nine years old, she was doing commercials on television. After completing high school she and her family relocated from the city of Los Angeles to pursue acting. Kat Dennings, as she was referred to at the time started auditioning. Kat Dennings' acting debut came after having moved to LA was when she appeared on HBO's "Sex and the City" in the year 2000. Then, she starred in WB's sitcom "Sex and the City".
